Assessment & Reports

Referrals

You do not require a referral from your doctor to see a psychologist. Anyone can see a psychologist as a private client and you can ‘self-refer’ yourself. However, if you would like to claim a rebate from Medicare, then you will need to be referred by your doctor. Please speak with your doctor about this, and we have provided more information below.

Medicare Rebates and Mental Health Treatment Plans

We are registered with Medicare and rebates are available for eligible clients. Individuals with a ‘Mental Health Treatment Plan’ from their doctor are eligible to receive a rebate of:

  • $96.65 for 50 minute appointments (as of 01/07/24) with a Registered Psychologist.

  • $141.85 for 50 minute appointments (as of 01/07/24) with a Clinical Psychologist. ( Our Clinical Psychologist is Telehealth-Only)

Upon visiting your doctor or GP, they will make an assessment about whether you are eligible for such a plan, and may refer you to a psychologist.

You will need to have your ‘Mental Health Treatment Plan’ and Referral before you come to the first session with your Psychologist in order to be eligible for the rebate. Your Medicare rebate will be processed electronically at the end of your consultation and returned back to you directly from Medicare.

Private Health Insurance Rebates

If you have ‘extras’ private health insurance you may be eligible to claim rebates for psychological sessions. Each health insurance package is different and we recommend that you check with your insurer about possible rebate amounts. We will give you a receipt for payments of your psychology appointments and you can submit this to your Health Insurance provider.

NIDS Therapy Fees

  • Plan Managed: NDIS Psychology Fees are as outlined in the ‘NDIS Pricing Guide’*.

  • Self-Managed: Our standard psychology fees apply (as listed at the top of this page) and participants are eligible to claim back the NDIS psychology rate* after the appointment directly from the NDIS.
